Some aspects of the excitation of copper lines in a hollow-cathode discharge

Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

Abstract

The level population is found to contain anomalously high populations of displaced levels below the ionization limit, especially 4p′4Po. This is considered to be due to electron-ion combination. Some aspects of the excitation of copper ion lines in helium and argon are reported. Possible excitation mechanisms are discussed.
