Variation in the strength and strain properties of filled caprolon during cyclic loading

  • Published:
Mechanics of Composite Materials Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

In computing and designing filled-caprolon components operating under variable-stress conditions, it is necessary to consider possible in-service variations in mechanical properties, since these variations may be significant in individual cases.

  2. 2.

For stresses below the endurance limit based on Nf = 2·106 cycles, with which there is no self-heating effect and which normally are working stresses in real designs, the strength and yield of the material over the major portion of the cyclic life are 15–20% lower than corresponding values characteristic for the initial state.
