Histometrical analysis of the skin in hemiplegia spastica infantilis

Summary

Micrometrical measurements of the epidermal thickness, dermal thickness, width of the collagen fibres and the position of sweat glands were carried out in patients with spastic hemiplegia.

Compared to the non-affected site the skin of the paralysed extremity showed a significantly thinner epidermis and a reduction of the diameter of the collagen fibres.

The position of sweat glands as well as the dermal thickness were found to be unchanged.

Zusammenfassung

Mikrometrische Untersuchungen der Epidermis- und Kollagenfaserbreite, des Abstandes zwischen Stratum basale und Fettgewebe sowie der Lokalisation der Schweißdrüsen lassen Unterschiede zwischen der gelähmten und ungelähmten Seite bei Hemiplegia spastica infantilis erkennen.

Die Haut der gelähmten Extremität weist gegenüber der gesunden Seite eine statistisch hochsignifikante Dickenabnahme der Epidermis auf. Neben der ausgeprägten Epidermis-Hypotrophie findet sich eine Verschmälerung der Kollagenfibrillen. Die Lagerungshöhe der Schweißdrüsen und die Breite des Coriums sind weniger betroffen.
