Summary
-
1.
We developed a method of collecting pure liver lymph from rats, with the aim of determining quantitatively the proportion of bile regurgitating into the blood and lymph during early bile stasis.
-
2.
From the measurements of the liver lymph flow and its protein composition in rats with normal body temperature, before and during bile stasis, the regurgitation of continuously produced bile into liver lymph is estimated at about 7–10%.
-
3.
Analyses of blood and liver lymph in hypothermal rats during the infusion of Ringer's solution containing Evans Blue into the bile duct, showed about 13% regurgitation into the lymph.

1.
