Problems and possibilities in documentation of substances in analytical toxicology (with reference to experiences gained in use of a punched card index)

Summary

The systematic processing of analytical data gathered for the purpose of identifying an unknown substance is discussed, along with the possibilities of error in selecting the data. Some characteristics of substances that are most worth-while documenting are listed. This is followed by a few typical examples of questions encountered, and a critical review of noteworthy aspects to consider when choosing an expedient method of documentation.

Zusammenfassung

Die systematische Auswertung von analytischen Daten einer unbekannten Substanz zum Zwecke ihrer Identifizierung wird anhand der Fehlermöglichkeiten bei dieser Selektion durchgesprochen. Einige sinnvoll zu dokumentierende Substanzmerkmale werden aufgeführt. Es folgen einige Beispiele typischer Fragestellungen und ein kritischer überblick über beachtenswerte Gesichtspunkte bei der Auswahl eines zweckmÄ\igen Dokumentationsverfahrens.
