Abstract

A gas seal was developed in which the inlet and outlet openings of furnaces for high-temperature treatment of carbon fibre materials are hermetically sealed not only due to the energy of the jet but also due to directed eddy gas flows. A blocking effect is obtained in the seal with excess pressure of the gases in the working chamber of 100–200 Pa and a gas flow rate no greater than I m3/h. The seal is distinguished by simplicity of construction, is compact, reliable, and easy to service.
