Summary
The adaptation of the architecture of the lower limbs to their peculiar function was studied in the hind legs of quadrupedal Cercopithecidae and Macropodidae usually moving in an upright posture. Films were evaluated in analysing the course of locomotion of these two genera.
The following details were considered:
-
1.
Os coxae, femur, tibia and the bones of the foot as anatomical lever-arms;
-
2.
the virtual lever-arms of the muscles of the lower limb;
-
3.
action lines of forces and angles of origin and insertion of the muscles;
-
4.
action lines of forces of the partial load affecting the lower limb;
-
5.
the dry weight of the muscles as a measure for their efficiency;
-
6.
the course of locomotion, the dimension of flexion and extension in the hip-, knee- and talocrural joint.
The biomechanic examination of the lower limbs of Cercopithecidae and Macropodidae demonstrates that the locomotor-system is adapted to its peculiar functions. Form and efficiency respectively form and function depend on each other.
-
1.
Os coxae, Femur, Tibia und Fußskelet als anatomische Hebelarme;
-
2.
virtuelle Hebelarme der Muskeln der Hinterextremität;
-
3.
Wirkungslinien, Ursprungs- und Insertionswinkel der Muskeln;
-
4.
Verlauf der Wirkungslinie der auf die Hinterextremität entfallenden Teillast des Körpers;
-
5.
Trockengewicht der Muskeln als Maß für ihre Leistungsfähigkeit;
-
6.
