Abstract
Data are reported and analyzed from intercrosses between laboratory rats heterozygous for albinism (c) and for a structural gene (designated Hbb) determining the hemoglobin polymorphism previously reported in this species. The two loci are shown to be closely linked, with a map distance of about 5 crossover units (cM). This is discussed with reference to the probable subunit structure of rat hemoglobin and to the similar linkage relationship which exists in the mouse.
