Summary
In the infundibular nucleus of some avian species (Zonotrichia leucophrys gambelii, Carduelis chloris, Passer domesticus) several subdivisions are described. In the Whitecrowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia leucophrys gambelii, this arrangement of small and large nerve cells seems to be important with respect to studies on hypothalamic lesions (P. E. Wilson) and their effect on the photoperiodically induced gonadal growth (D. S. Farner).
