Summary
In the horizontal plane the angular velocity is fourtimes as much as in the circular. The circular eye movement is the result of a high coordination of all eye-muscles, the horizontal eye movement on the other side is the most simple one.
In the horizontal plane the visual acuity of moving objects is binocular better than monocular. Whith movable head the visual acuity is better than with fixed head. The visual acuity of moving objects is worse with older people than with younger. Monocularly the visual acuity is better when the test object comes from the temporal side than from nasal.
There are differences in the right or left part of the field of gaze. If the objects are coming of the right side and we test either the right or the left side of the field of gaze, the visual acuity is better on the right side.
With patients with high myopia the visual acuity of moving objects is relatively bad. Aphagic patients have a normal visual acuity of moving objects. The explanation of this fact is, that the moving objects are only seen in the central area of fixation.
