Antibacterial in vitro activity of sulfurhexafluoride (SF6)

Abstract

The sterility of the gas Sulfurhexafluoride (SF6) was proved by means of microbiological examinations. It was also shown that Sulfurhexafluoride has no antibacterial influence on important clinically relevant bacteria.

Zusammenfassung

Anhand von mikrobiologischen Untersuchungen wird die Keimfreiheit des handelsüblich gelieferten Gases Schwefelhexafluorid (SF6) bewiesen. Ferner wird festgestellt, daß SF6 unter in vitro-Versuchsbedingungen keine antibakteriellen Aktivitäten auf wichtige klinisch relevante Bakterienarten hat.
