Histologische, klinische und perimetrische Befunde bei malignem Melanom der Aderhaut

Summary

Histological interpretation in 95 malignant melanomas of the choroid the comprehension represented in the ophthalmological literature that the frequency of metastatic formation reveals strict correlations with the type of cell of the tumor. More recent dermatological papers diverge therein from the ophthalmological literature. Furthermore it remains disputed what significance is to be attributed to the content of pigment. Own investigations emphasize a dependence of metastatic formation an extension of the tumor thereby that larger tumors show a clear tendency to the type of mixed cells.

On the other hand according to our observation a statement about mitotic activity and malignity seems to be controversial. Investigating a great number of serial sections a considerable variety is to be seen so as this question does not yet allow a clear reply.

Finally it was to be demonstrated by means of observations on the subject that in clinical extreme cases quantitatively perimetric examinations of function do not permit a statement about malignant or benign tumor of choroid.

Zusammenfassung

Die histologische Auswertung von 95 malignen Melanomen der Aderhaut bestätigt die im ophthalmologischen Schrifttum niedergelegte Auffassung, daß die Häufigkeit der Metastasierung enge Zusammenhänge mit dem Zelltyp des Tumors erkennen läßt. Neuere dermatologische Arbeiten weichen darin vom ophthalmologischen Schrifttum ab. Weiter bleibt umstritten, welche Bedeutung dem Pigmentgehalt zuzuschreiben ist. Eigene Untersuchungen unterstreichen eine Abhängigkeit zwischen Metastasierung und Ausdehnung des Tumors dadurch, daß größere Tumoren eine deutliche Tendenz zum gemischtzelligen Typ aufweisen.

Hingegen scheint nach unserer Beobachtung eine Aussage über mitotische Aktivität und Malignität umstritten. Bei Untersuchung von Serienschnitten in großer Zahl läßt sich eine nicht unbeträchtliche Variabilität feststellen, so daß diese Frage noch keine eindeutige Beantwortung zuläßt.

Schließlich war durch eine einschlägige Beobachtung darzulegen, daß quantitative perimetrische Funktionsprüfungen in klinischen Grenzfällen keine Aussagen erlauben über bösartigen oder gutartigen Aderhauttumor.
