Summary

The effect of intracarotid injection of prostaglandin E1 on the cerebral haemodynamics in subarachnoid bleeding has been studied in 6 patients. The dose rate ranged from 0.000002 μg/kg/min–0.03 μg/kg/min. Arterial diameter, cerebral blood flow and circulation times were measured and blood pressure, respiration and electrocardiographic changes were monitored.

No definite spasmolytic effects were observed and no major adverse reactions were encountered.
