The accelerating effect of mechanical vibrations on the positive phototaxis of Locusta migratoria

Summary

The speed of the phototactic movements of Locusta migratoria is increased when the animals are previously exposed to 3 min of vibrations. Although the speed of these movements is diminished when one or both antennae are removed, the relative increase in speed after vibration stimuli is maintained.
