Abstract

In connection with testicular effects in rats of dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and monobutyl phthalate (MBP), the in vitro hydrolysis of dibutyl esters of phthalate isomers such as isophthalic and terephthalic acids was compared using preparations from rat liver, kidney, pancreas, small intestine, and blood. The results suggest considerable substrate specificity and the participation of different enzymes for hydrolysis of these esters.
