Dependent layering of contrast medium in cystic astrocytomas

Summary

Dependent layering of contrast enhanced fluid in cystic astrocytomas has not been described on computed tomograms. Two children in which this phenomenon occurred are described and its significance is discussed. In a third cystic lesion contrast layering was confirmed by head tilting.
