Summary
Adsorptive stripping voltammetry of testosterone propionate was investigated and a procedure worked out for its trace measurement. The method is based on the adsorptive accumulation of testosterone propionate at the hanging mercury drop electrode. The reduction peak was observed by scanning the potential in a negative direction. Optimal conditions were a Britton Robinson buffer solution (pH 6.5) and an adsorption accumulation potential of — 1.0 V. A low detection limit of 5×10−9 mol/l was obtained. The method was applied to the determination of testosterone propionate in pharmaceutical preparations.
