Abstract

Pentachloronitrobenzene (PCNB), pentachlorothiophenol (PCTP), pentachlorothioanisole (PCTAS), 4-methylthio-tetrachlorothiophenol (MTTCTP), 1,4-bis(methylthio)tetrachlorobenzene (BMTTCB), and bis(pentachlorophenyl)disulphide (BPCPDS), were investigated for their acute toxicity in mice. The substances were administered intraperitoneally. The LD50 values found are: 4.50 g/kg b.wt. for PCNB, 0.28 g/kg b.wt. for PCTP, 8.70 g/kg b.wt. for PCTAS, and 0.245 g/kg b.wt. for MTTCTP. No lethality was found with BMTTCB at doses of 4.5 g, 9 g, and 11.25 g/kg b.wt., and with BPCPDS at 4.5 g/kg b.wt.
