Experimental investigations with Fe-59 on iron metabolism of the palate tonsils in rabbits

Summary

Iron metabolism of the palate tonsils from young and matured rabbits were examined with isotope Fe-59. The biological radioactive period of iron in general body measurement of young rabbit was between 120 and 130 days, the content of Fe-59 in the palate tonsil has shown a continous and steep decrease from 1–7 days.

Zusammenfassung

Mit Hilfe des Isotop Fe-59 wurde der Eisenstoffwechsel von Gaumenmandeln junger and zuchtreifer Kaninchen untersucht. Während die biologische Halbwertszeit von Eisen bei der Gesamtkörpermessung von jungen Kaninchen 120 bis 130 Tage beträgt, weist der Gehalt der Gaumenmandeln an Fe-59 bei beiden Tiergruppen vom 1. bis zum 7. Tag p.i. einen stetigen und steilen Abfall auf.
