Beta adrenergic and cholinergic stimulants from the cardioaccelerator nerve of the domestic fowl

Summary

The effects of electrical stimulation of the right cardioaccelerator nerve in adult White Leghorn cocks was studied. Stimulations were performed before and after propranolol alone and in combination with atropine, also after reserpine pretreatment alone and in combination with atropine and propranolol. The results of these stimulations suggest that both a beta adrenergic stimulant and a cholinergic depressant are capable of being released by the cardioaccelerator of birds.
