Lateral Line Sense Organs of Surface Feeding Fishes

Abstract

The arrangement of lateral line sense organs in 4 families of nonrelated surface feeding fishes is described. Although lateral line sense organs in these fishes show great variability they are all sensitive to surface waves. Morphological differences are emphasized and discussed functionally.
