Studies on the morphology of Cotugnia digonopora Pasquale 1890 (Cestoda: Davaineidae)

Summary

The excretory system of C. digonopora is described in detail. The loop formation of the four canals in the scolex, histology of the longitudinal excretory canals and the structure of the flame cell are also described. The development of the flame cells from the epithelial cells of the ventral canal is established. A single epithelial cell divides into four cells, three of them develop into three flame cells and the fourth gives rise to the capillary.
