Summary

Single pot double kinetic resolution of (±) ethyl 4-chloro-3-O-acetyl butanoate 1 by transesterification with n-butanol in diisopropyl ether using the enzyme Candida Cylindracea Lipase (CCL) is investigated. This technique is found to give products with better optical purity.
