Experience with the computer control of yeast growth

Abstract

A computer-fermenter system was constructed, and used for the optimised fed-batch growth of yeast. Requirements for on-line computer control are discussed. The need to be able to adjust control parameters, during the run, to allow for batch variations etc., without stopping the computer, is stressed.
