Abstract
The harmonic content of de Haas-van Alphen oscillations of mercury from the Β-orbits is analyzed. It is shown that the spin factor of the rth harmonic is (−1)r, just as in bismuth. An analysis of the sense of the oscillations indicates that holes and electrons produce equivalent oscillations in the de Haas-van Alphen effect.
