Abstract

The relationship between postural control and age can be described applying an optimum curve. Thus, postural control gradually decreases with advancing age after reaching its full extent in adulthood. At the same time the risk of falling increases, often with serious consequences. Specific and systematic training has a positive effect on postural control and serves as an effective means of preventing falls.
