Obstipation ist ein häufiges Symptom, das mit zahlreichen Erkrankungen assoziiert oder auf strukturelle oder funktionelle Erkrankungen des Kolons und Rektums zurückzuführen sein kann. Je nach Ursache lässt sich die Obstipation oft mit einer Umstellung der Lebens- und Ernährungsgewohnheiten sowie Quellmitteln und Laxanzien beheben. Sprechen die Patienten darauf nicht an, kann eine Operation indiziert sein.
