Abstract
In 2010 the German Medical Council (BÄK) in collaboration with the Federal Association of Physicians in Legal Insurance (KBV) and the Collaboration of Scientific Medical Societies of Specialists (AWMF) published guidelines on low back pain. In this article the contents of these guidelines are extensively described and also related to the results of recent studies. This will develop the opportunity for manual medicine physicians to apply relevant standards in the diagnostics and treatment of acute low back pain.
