Abstract
Smelting of low-silicon vanadium hot metal in a high-temperature flux-free process is investigated in experimental trials; the products are low-carbon raw steel and commercial vanadium slag. The oxidation of vanadium, carbon, and other elements is studied. The productivity of the process is estimated, along with the quality of the steel and vanadium slag. Experiments are conducted on the ladle treatment of the low-carbon steel to remove vanadium.
