Abstract

Based on the method of coupled wave thicknesses and the method of equivalent substitutions, an exact analytical solution is obtained for the problem of synthesizing multilayer two-component periodic structures with specified amplitude–phase characteristics. The obtained analytical relations make it possible to synthesize structures with specified characteristics with the minimum possible number of layers for any refractive indices encountered in practice, both for the materials of layers of structures and for the materials of media limiting the structure. The correctness of the obtained exact solutions and the operability of the methods are confirmed by a numerical experiment.
