Synthesis of Polyurethane Varnish Using Oxypropylated Diphenylolpropane and Properties of Its Coatings

Abstract

A polyurethane varnish was developed in which oxypropylated diphenylolpropane with a molecular weight of 1000 was used as an oligoether diol. The influence of the molar ratio of isocyanate and hydroxyl groups in the system and the nature of isocyanate on the physical and mechanical properties of the coatings was studied. The optimal composition of the varnish, which makes it possible to obtain a coating with high hardness combined with high adhesion, impact, and bending strength, was found. The coating is resistant to high temperatures, water, oil, petroleum, and gasoline.
