Structural transformations of carbon black by high-energy laser and electron irradiation

Abstract

Studies of the structural transformations of carbon black caused by laser and electron irradiation have been carried out using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The heterosystems of the Pt/C-type are obtained in the process of laser irradiation of carbon black suspensions in platinum-containing solutions. A high-energy electron irradiation of carbon black causes the formation of multimorphological carbon nanostructures, which possess a graphite-like arrangement of graphene layers.
