Abstract

The silicon-based copolymer solution of methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate was prepared by one pot, the optimization dosages of the monomers and vinyltriethoxysilane were determined. The solution formed coatings on the surface of glass plate and stone samples. The structure was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, XRD and TGA-DSC, and the porous surface can be observed by SEM. The effect of the vinyltriethoxysilane on the surface properties of the product was investigated by measurement of contact angle. The results revealed the polyacrylate hybrid material modified by vinyltriethoxysilane have good hydrophobicity and better anti-aging, which could be easily adjusted by controlling the content of the vinyltriethoxysilane. The maximum value of contact angle was 98.5°, while the minimum rate of weight loss of the products was 1.1% after 30 days under UV radiation, and the morphology variation of the protection coating cannot be observed.
