Abstract
N-(Substituted phenyl)-2-(3H-thieno[2,3-d]imidazol-2-yl)benzamides were synthesized by one-pot three-component reaction of dimethyl phthalate, substituted anilines, and thiophene-2,3-diamine in a mixture of ethanol and water in the presence of H3PO4 as catalyst for 1.5–2.0 h at 70–75°C. The developed synthetic protocol is sustainable and economic and is characterized by easy workup procedure, the use of nontoxic reactants and solvents, short reaction time, and high yields.
