Abstract

Thermal treatment of CDs and DVDs discs was performed in a batch reactor in melted coal-tar pitch at temperatures in the range 260–380°C. The composition of polycarbonate thermal destruction products contained in waste discs, released from the reactor, and the properties of the pyrolysis residue were examined., and the properties of the pyrolysis residue were examined. The residue was chemically activated with KOH. The characteristics of the resulting sorbents were determined.
