Abstract

The reactions of tri(meta-tolyl)antimony with 3-fluorophenylchloroacetic, cinnamic, and phenylpropiolic acids in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide (molar ratio 1 : 2 : 1) in diethyl ether afford tri(meta-tolyl)antimony dicarboxylates (3-MeC6H4)3Sb[OC(O)CH2C6H4F-3]2 (I), (3-MeC6H4)3Sb-[OC(O)CH=СHPh]2 (II), and (3-MeC6H4)3Sb[OC(O)C≡СPh]2 (III), respectively. Under similar conditions, the reaction of tri(meta-tolyl)antimony with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid gives µ-oxobis[tri(meta-tolyl)(trifluoromethanesulfonato)antimony] [(3-MeC6H4)3SbOSO2CF3]2O (IV). The Sb atoms in compounds IIV have the coordination of a distorted trigonal bipyramid with the electronegative ligands in the axial positions.
