Abstract
We have synthesized and structurally characterized molybdate complexes of neptunium(V) with singly charged cations in the outer sphere and the ratio NpO2+ : MoO42– = 1 : 1 of the common composition M[(NpO2)(MoO4)(H2O)] (I), where M+ = NH4+ (Ia), Rb+ (Ib) and Tl+ (Ic), and a new complex with the ratio NpO2+ : MoO42– = 1 : 2 of the composition K6[(NpO2)(MoO4)2(H2O)2]2 (II). In isostructural compounds I, the coordination environment of Np atoms is pentagonal bipyramids linked by tetradentate-bridging MoO42– ions into an anionic framework. The main structural motive of compound II is centrosymmetric dimeric anions, in which pentagonal bipyramids are linked by bidentate bridging MoO42– ions.
