Energy Spectrum and Optical Absorption Spectrum of Exohedral Fullerene С50Cl10 within the Hubbard Model

Abstract

The energy spectra of fullerene С50 and exohedral fullerene С50Cl10 with symmetry group D5h are obtained within the Hubbard model in the static fluctuation approximation. Their energy states are classified and allowed transitions in the energy spectra of the С50 and С50Cl10 molecules are determined using group-theory methods. The experimentally observed optical absorption bands of exohedral fullerene С50Cl10 are interpreted based on the energy spectra of the С50Cl10 molecule.
