Abstract

Two complexes with V-shaped ligands, [(L1)2Mn(H2O)4](HSA)2] (1), {[(L1)2Zn(H2O)2](HSA)2}n (2) (L1 = bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)methanone, H2SA = salicylic acid), have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The complexes have been characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Crystals of 1 and 2 are both triclinic with space group P\(\overline 1 \). In 1, adjacent molecules [(L1)2Mn(H2O)4](HSA)2] are linked by weak interactions to form a 3D network. In 2, Zn2+ ions are linked to each other through the L1 ligands to form 1D infinite chains, which are linked by weak interactions to form a 3D network.
