Abstract
An approach to the detection of ginsenosides in plant extracts and commercial products is developed on the basis of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry. The approach was validated for two major ginsenosides F11 and RT5 quantified in extracts from Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius roots. The samples were analyzed by reversed-phase chromatography with a C18 adsorbent. For the registration of compounds, electrospray ionization in the mode of positive ions and tandem mass spectrometry detection system were used. The limits of detection in the multiple reaction monitoring mode were 10 and 20 ng/mL. Linearity with the correlation coefficient > 0.999 was observed for the range 50–2000 ng/mL.
