Abstract

Density and ultrasonic velocity values of antacid drug ranitidine hydrochloride + water /methanol-water/ethanol-water mixtures have been measured as a function of drug concentration and solvent composition from (T = 303.15–313.15) K. The thermodynamic properties such as isentropic compressibility, specific acoustical impedance, relative association and intermolecular free length have been calculated from density and ultrasonic velocity. It is observed that the solvent composition and temperature strongly affect the measured and calculated properties. It has been observed from the acoustical properties that the solvation of drug increases with concentration and nature of alcohol.
