Abstract

A two-dimensional diffraction problem on a cylindrical body with a rough boundary has been considered. In this paper, two aspects of the diffraction problem on a body with an uneven boundary have been investigated. First, the diffraction on bodies with random boundary perturbations has been studied. Diffraction on a rough circular cylinder has been considered as an example. The results of calculating the averaged scattering pattern obtained using the modified discrete source method have been compared with the results obtained using the small perturbation method. The second goal of this work has been to clarify the degree of influence of small perturbations of the scatterer boundary on the geometry of the set of singularities of the analytical continuation of the diffraction field. The problem of diffraction on a cylindrical body with a cross-section in the form of a rough polyfoil given in polar and elliptical coordinates has been considered as an example.
