Abstract
Construction industries consume a large part of the natural resources in the production of concrete. Utilization of the waste in concrete has gained interest due to the development in the construction structure and depletion of natural resources. This article reviews the utilization of dolomite industrial waste in sustainable concrete production. Dolomite industrial waste is a by-product of the dolomite industries generated during the production of dolomite mineral. This paper provides the effect of dolomite waste on various properties (fresh, mechanical, and durability) of concrete, analyzes the crucial findings of dolomite waste based on the partial replacement of cement and aggregate, and discusses its suitability as a construction material. Available research studies showed the dominant potential of dolomite quarry waste as cement and aggregate replacement. In the current article, a large number of research papers have been reviewed. The finding of the different studies showed that using the dolomite waste as cement and aggregate up to certain extent increases the mechanical properties of concrete and influences the durability properties, but simultaneously decreases the workability of concrete. This paper suggests using dolomite waste as partial substitute of cement and aggregate for cleaner production of concrete.
