Chirurgische Alarmsymptome sind ein häufiger Grund für eine Vorstellung in der Praxis. Es gilt diese zu erkennen und richtig zu interpretieren, da sich oftmals eine unmittelbare therapeutische (chirurgische) Konsequenz daraus ableitet. Beispielsweise kann der akute epigastrische Schmerz Zeichen einer Magenperforation sein.
