Abstract

Hydrothermal method is a cost-effective and reproducible technique for synthesizing nanoparticles. The vanadium oxide nanoparticles were successfully prepared using hydrothermal method. The phase stability of synthesized samples was checked with the variation in solution molarity. The results of X-ray Diffraction (XRD) showed tetragonal phase of vanadium oxide. The UV–Vis spectroscopy was carried out to check characteristic absorption peak of the optimized samples. The free radical scavenging ability of synthesized vanadium oxide nanoparticles was determined by antioxidant analysis. The vanadium oxide nanoparticles exhibited strong antibacterial properties against pathogenic bacteria. The enhanced photo-catalytic activity was observed using these nanoparticles against dye methyl orange blue. It has been observed that energy degradation was enhanced with increase in exposure time of dye with sunlight. All these parameters suggested that the synthesized vanadium oxide nanoparticles may be non-toxic in nature and can be used in optical and biomedical applications.
