Abstract

The strawberries are important for their economic and commercial values. The phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) are associated with the roots (rhizomicrobiome). The present study was intended to isolate and characterize the potential PSB with other functional attributes along with its effect on growth and yield of the strawberry cultivar (Fragariaananassa Duch). Potential P-soulbilizers were isolated from the rhizospheric soil collected from agricultural fields. Isolates were screened and reveals increased production of siderophore, HCN, ammonia, and IAA along with antagonistic property. 16S rRNA gene was amplified for homology analysis and identification of the selected strain. Field trial of SS-4 on strawberry was conducted, and various physcio-chemical parameters such as plant height, plant spread, number of leaves, number of flowers, and fruits along with fruit yield were carried out using standard protocols. Out of four bacterial isolates, SS-4 was selected, characterized, and identified as Chryseomicrobium imtechense (accession number: JN967653). Significant improvement was recorded in all the physcio-chemical parameters of strawberry cultivar (Fragaria × ananassa Duch). Potential and novel plant growth promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), Chryseomicrobium imtechense, has been isolated and successfully applied in the field. This isolate may be explored in the future for other crops.
