Abstract

The research on geochemical characteristics of natural gas is helpful to gas source correlation and promote natural gas exploration. However, the migration and preservation conditions of natural gas affect the accuracy of gas source correlation. In this study, the geochemical characteristics of source rocks and gas source in Fudong area are determined by using natural gas composition and carbon isotopes, source rock maturity, rock pyrolysis parameters, and kerogen carbon isotopes, and the causes of the abnormality of the Permian natural gas dry coefficient are analyzed. The results show that Carboniferous and Permian source rocks have a strong hydrocarbon-generating ability, and Jurassic source rocks have a medium hydrocarbon generation ability. The carbon isotopes of methane and ethane and dry coefficient in Jurassic natural gas in the west of Fudong area are low, derived from its own low mature humic and sapropelic source rocks. The carbon isotopes of methane and ethane and dry coefficient in Carboniferous natural gas in the east of Fudong area are high, derived from its own mature humic source rock. The carbon isotopes of methane and ethane and dry coefficient in Permian natural gas in the east of Fudong area vary widely, derived from Jurassic or Carboniferous source rocks. The migration and preservation of natural gas may cause the abnormality of the natural gas dry coefficient, although the maturity and genesis of Permian natural gas are matched with the source rock type and maturity .
