Abstract
In this paper we introduce the Special Issue, ‘Children’s Understandings of Well-being: Global and Local Contexts’. We provide an overview of the genesis for the special issue, raise some of the issues that a multi-national comparative and qualitative approach to understanding children’s well-being attempts to address, provide a summary of the contributions to the special issue and identify some common themes that arise from these diverse contributions.
