Abstract

Bismuth ferrite is a prominent candidate for spintronic application if its multiferroic nature is improved. A chemical technique has been used to synthesize BiFe1–xAlxO3 (x = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08) samples. Structural and microstructural properties of the synthesized compound have been studied from X-ray diffraction data. The dielectric nature of all the samples has been studied by measuring impedance at various frequencies. The ferroelectric nature of all the samples has been studied using P–E data. Magnetic hysteresis data has been obtained to study the ferromagnetic nature of the samples. Improved multiferroic behaviour has been found after Al doping at the Fe site of BiFeO3.
