Abstract

The phase equilibria of the Ti-Ta-Si ternary system at 1100 and 1300 °C were investigated experimentally by X-ray diffraction and electron probe microanalysis. When combining experimental data with binary phase diagrams, there are nine and ten three-phase regions existing in the isothermal sections at 1100 and 1300 °C, respectively. The results show that addition of Ta makes the Ti3Si phase stable at 1300 °C, and the composition range of the Ti3Si is about 40.2-60.9 at.% Ti, 13.6-34.4 at.% Ta, 25.5-26.4 at.% Si. No ternary compound is found at 1100 and 1300 °C.
